Two more videos, “The Meaning of Light- The Photon who fell to Gaia” and “Gaia movie, impressions from the AGIS meeting in Heidelberg” are now available on the website.
Created by M.Crosta (OATo-INAF) and produced by Maga Animation Studio (ASI contract I/58/10/0 -P.I. M. Lattanzi) for the launch of the Gaia satellite in 2013, the motion comic “The Meaning of Light” has recently added to the film the theme song “Singing the Stars” the chorus of which (Oh be a fine girl/guy kiss me Little Thing, Yeah) adds to the famous sequence for memorising the star classification system (O-B-A-F-G-K-M) the most recently discovered new varieties of star, L-T-Y.
On the other hand, “Gaia movie, impressions from the AGIS meeting in Heidelberg“, produced by Klaus Jäger and Stefan Jordan, uses footage from the AGIS meeting last April 2015 at the Centre for Astronomy of the University of Heidelberg to explain Gaia mission and goals. The movie includes interviews to three scientists that explain what AGIS (Astrometric Global Iterative Solution) is and what its challenges are, as well as they describe the progress of the AGIS development which will finally result in the most accurate star catalogue ever. This DPAC outreach video is available in English and German.
